    @amazingdany wait i got 1 more question. I’m gonna use this tv in my room which is kinda small, 14 feet by 16 feet. Do you think that might make a difference?

  2. amazingdany says:

    @crazyjorge2111 Optimal viewing distance will be the plasma tv’s height multiplied by 4 so 21 inches *4 = 7 feet, so put your couch at 7 feet! It fits the room! *cough*Best 42 inch plasma are Panasonic Viera TC-P42G15 and Panasonic Viera TC-P42U2 *cough* (hu hu)

    @amazingdany thanks, amazingdany, I live here in Montreal too. By the way, there are some ways to create a weatherproof antenna, there are many videos out there!

    Fuck that is some great shit! Time to go rural everybody! :P I say this because everyone in rural Canada has a TV with a clothes hanger antenna. Just for GlobalTV, CBC and some stupid french channel (In N.Ontario atleast also the channel not the language is dumb.) :P

    Build this antenna today. Still was not able to get the HD channels. Now, I am on the fringe of the signal from the source which is about 60 to 80 Miles away. I used to have some crappy old rabbit ears and they got nothing. Now, even though I still do not get the stations, I do get a higher pickup on the signal meter but its still just not enough. Total cost was about $10 for wood, washers, UHF/VHF Modulator and so on. By the way, A UHF/VHF transformer is not a buck fifty at radio shack.

    I built this antenna, and I get lots of really good HD channels,, Thanks,, it worked for me,, I wish I could catch some others like my firend how bought a Radio Shack HD antenna that goes outside, he catches much more than me,, But I can’t complain, I do get some pretty good channels.. Very Easy to build.

    I’ve built this exact antenna for my HDTV a few years ago. I recieved the best HD picture I’ve ever seen on every available channel in my area. I even received the FX cable channel during some parts of the day. This is a great antenna. If you do it right, you’ll get the channels in your area, plus channels you’ve never even heard of, from different viewing areas. I’m not sure how far this will reach, but I received channel from at least 80 miles away. Also, go for LCD1080p over Plasma 720p

    I just finish building this antenna and hooked it up to my flat screen , I can only get 4 channels , but they’re clear

    Thanks a lot for the video, I’m making mine right now. The lip smacking from the voice over though is driving me crazy. Are you eating something while recording?

  13. Cambaudio says:

    Just finished making this after an hour or so. Can’t get one single channel in, and yet my beer can antenna gets about 6. Triple checked everything, its made exactly the same. Any ideas?

  14. tH3FtoN3 says:

    very nice i did this project and it worked very well.i only spent 10$

  15. Cambaudio says:

    @Cambaudio Nevermind. It must have been my TV or something, because I rescanned a couple times and now I get a total of 9, yes NINE channels off of a homemade Antenna! So a huge thank you for this, I spent around $10 for the Transformer at radio-shack but that’s it. Totally worth it. Tommorow I take back that piece of junk Phillips antenna I got from WalMart that gave me 0 channels.

    I have built 2 of them and they worked great. i made the unfortunate mistake of buying a HDTV antenna which cost me a75 bucks just to have it not work.
    thanks for uploading this video, they work far better than store bought ones.

    lol 5:31 just throw it away

  18. KrazyTheKlown43 says:

    So do you pay for the regular cable non hd then build this and you get the hd channels free?

  19. casper5126 says:

    @Cambaudio LOL I WAS JUST ABOUT TO BUY THAT ON SUNDAY!!! Good thing you stated that!!!

  20. KD8NCL says:

    Lesson of the day folks: This is NOT an HDTV antenna. There is NO “HDTV Antenna.” You can use “A” COAT HANGER and receive HDTV – Why? Simple. You will receive HDTV on anything that will pick up the signal; Because; The station broadcasting; Is broadcasting in HD. Keep that in mind. Save yourselves some money when you decide to buy a “real” antenna.

  21. leaf350 says:

    what size washers?

  22. vikslal says:

    You can keep this inside?
    Would it work better outside? If so, wouldn’t you have to ground it?

  23. amazingdany says:

    @leaf350 quarter-sized ones will do.

  24. amazingdany says:

    @vikslal It will catch better signals if put outside, but wrap it in a large garbage bag to make it weather proof and be sure to cover the antenna endings with scotch tape to 1- avoid making holes in the bag 2- won’t scratch you as they are sharp! :)

    Inside will work too, but put it close to the window. Window material may affect signal.

    @amazingdany kk thanks
